Lil Scrappy
Interview with Lil Scrappy by Troy Alexander   -

What's goin on Lil Scrappy

You already know what it is, im in L.A. grindin workin on my thing.

First off, tell us about Lil Scrappy how did you get into the Rap Game

I first got into the Rap game when I was like 16 or 17 that's when I really took it serious or whatever and I got outta Boot Camp and I had a single in the street called "Head Busters" you know what im sayin, and when I came out everybody was wildin off of it. So I really just hit the clubs real hard. Sometimes I took money sometimes I didn't and just hit the club every weekend you feel me.

Your New Album is Bred 2 Die- Born to Live whats behind the title?

I mean you can use it as any analogy you know what im sayin, your Bred in this World, we all know we gonna die in the end and Born to Live you might as well get money in the meantime and Live life you feel me, Bred to Die Born to Live!

What's your affiliation with G-Unit, how did that come about?

Actually you know I always knew these dudes you know what im sayin, we had the same booking agent, the same manager after my old manager screwed me over that's when I went with Violator management but we had the same people and I just really just blended in with them you know what im sayin. I just looked right over there you feel me and we always be hanging and one day I got hit with a bottle down in Palatka Florida it kind of hurt me a little bit, kind of pushed my game back and it pushed me back, it pushed my teeth back and all kinds of sh*t, gums, everything, everything was fu*ked up and nobody called me you know what im sayin! I was actually layin in the bed watchin videos, watchin all these niggaz, Trillville, everybody blow up and I was like damn, you know, I aint got sh*t nigga gonna be f*cked up, I aint gonna be able to Rap no more. Man, God must of touched the man hard, that nigga 50 just hit me, and when he hit me he was just tellin me some encouraging stuff you know what im sayin and help me get on my feet. After that we was just doin tours and sh*t and we was like we might as well just go ahead and make it official.

50 Cent is beefin with some Major Artists, now that your a G-Unit affiliate how do feel about that?

I mean you know 50 told me not to get in it, you know what im sayin, he said don't even get in it. You know unless somebody was to come at me or unless the big homie tell me to get somebody you know what im sayin. I mean it's all on 50, I mean if he want me to get somebody i'll do it you know what im sayin because thats big homie and he looked out for me. So, it aint too much of a thing right now because the same people he was beefin with I was cool with along time ago, so when I see em you know I just give em dapz or a duces up and keep movin you feel me. It aint no reason why if im on this side why we should take pictures, aint no reason to take pictures or do songs together if on on the squad now.

Who's some of features and Producers on you album?

Of course you know Jon got like 85% of the album, you got Drunk Squad from Memphis, Jazzy Pha, J.R.from L.A., Aqua from L.A. you got Kie and Sha Money XL from G-Unit productions and teamwork, we got Isaac Hayes III and thats about it.

Isaac Hayes is a legend, how did you hook up with Isaac 'Ike Dirty" Hayes III?

Aw man he was just there, they introduced me to him and sh*t, like we had already did some more sh*t before that you know just f*ckin around in the studio I was like you got some hot azz tracks lets go ahead and do something we was in Outkast studio. After that I hooked up with him again and I had 'Money In The Bank" I had already had Money in the Bank on a whole different song you know what im sayin but it fit with that song and I was like go ahead and scoop it up real good and real clean and then call me later and let me come back and put the verse down, he was like ok cool, I went back and did that sh*t in like 30 min freestyled both versions. If you heard the version without Young Buck on it, I freestyled both of those verses in like 30 min and it was hot, just hot, you know what im sayin now it's poppin!

Who were some of you Musical Influences coming up?

Man ima tell you why they my musical influences than ima tell you who. They my musical influences because that's all my momma use to bump in her car back in the day when she was doin her street thing real hard you feel me, and all she would play is Scarface, 2Pac, Nas, Outkast, Goodie Mob, 8 Ball MJG, UGK and you be sittin there like damn, she don't even listen to the sh*t no more and the same people that was rockin then is rockin now.

How would you describe your style and what sets you apart from other Rappers from the South?

Oh cuz I get crunk, I can move on stage, I can move anywhere, im crunk, im crazy and I can do Hip Hop!

The incident on the Beef DVD, how did that turn out, did you sue, tell us about it?

We still working on the case it's still pending you know what im sayin, but um, you know how it is with the Police they do what they do and get away with it, I mean Rodney King was on TV you know what im sayin getting beat up, which I think is what's gonna happen to me( laughs) you feel me. They get all the evidence on them and they get a slap on the hand but then they have no evidence on you, you go straight to jail for 20 years.

I feel you, that was real foul, and its all on tape, we hope you get your just due that was dead wrong..

So tell us, what can the fans except from this album?

Oh this album is half sorrow half partying, half crunk you know what im sayin.Thats just because I got my two influences on there lil Jon and 50 Cent, that's the best of both worlds, you know we gonna still give em that 'No Problem" that head buster, that sh*t you know what im sayin that crunk sh*t from the South, and then we gonna give you some Hip Hop some real life true stories.

What advice would you give young Artists trying to come up on the Rap Scene as Rap Artists?

The advice I would give them is to be humble, hungry and keep movin, always workin, if you can, try as long as you can to put yourself out and if all should fail you know what im sayin, if you gotta go sign to somebody make sure your business is right, you feel me, and keep God first.

Any last words or shout outs

Let em know im a God fearing person, man you aint got to be hard to be real you feel me, and look out for that new album Bred to Die- Born to Live late August early September, the new Crime Mobb album and the new G's Up Album....GGGG-Unit!!
