The Classic Legendary Singer Loleatta Holloway dies at age 64 in a Chicago. Loleatta Holloway was hospitalized for two weeks and passed away of Heart Failure. Loleatta started out singing in her mother’s choir,
the Holloway Community Singers, before recording her first single in 1971. At the end of the decade
she sang backup vocals on Dan Hartman’s ‘Re-Light My Fire’ who then wrote and produced what
became the huge hit ‘Love Sensation’. Loleatta also had the hit dance Record
Hit and Run and Runaway. Loleatta Holloway was also the voice of the Marky Mark and the
Funky Bunch hit ‘Good Vibrations’ in 1991. Her first single from the second album, the ballad Cry to Me rose to No. 10 on Billboard R&B Charts. Loleatta Holloway has been currently managed by Ron Richardson who also manages other Classic Legends such as Melba Moore, Linda Clifford. We spoke to her manager "She was a very nice lady, beautiful person and really didn't have to work that hard. I would have her perform a series of shows overseas, they have so much love for her the money she made would last the whole year, she would say I'll let you know when Im ready to do a show again. She has alot of Royalty's still coming from her classic hits" said Ron.
Loleatta leaves 4 children- 3 boys and 1 girl. Her grand daughter Nia Holloway is a singer and took Top Honors at Stars of Tomorrow competition at Amateur Night at The Apollo last year.
